Spaces Branding Designer – Intern

Does the idea of designing graphics for an athletic environment excite you? Do you know what a “REXframe” is? How about “Di-Noc”? Upon discovering a new material you find yourself touching it, wondering if you could make an entire wall with it. In your world print design matters, but you also geek out over wayfinding systems, signage and paint colors. You want the public to experience delight through your work.

What is a Daake intern?
We’re looking for talented interns who want to transform brands. At any time, our team is regularly working on projects for web, spaces, brand identity, and motion.
Interns will help develop concepts, attend brainstorming sessions, make observations – essentially everything we love about the designing brands.

Ok, but really, what will this look like?
We really do expect our interns to dive in head first. We like interns who are hungry to learn and eager to collaborate. Most of all, interns at Daake are expected to be one of the team.
We don’t expect interns to bring coffee, we expect them to bring breakfast burritos. Just kidding. And while we won’t turn down a breakfast burrito (who would?), that is definitely not an expectation.

How much do interns get paid?
Daake interns are expected to work hard, and because of that, we compensate at a competitive level. We do not believe in the “work for experience” or “work for exposure” kind of arrangement.
Additionally, all interns are responsible for their own housing during the program.

What will an intern at Daake learn?
We find that interns at Daake are challenged to grow and sharpen their “hard skills” associated with our industry. However, our aim is also to provide “soft-skills” like standard of service and work ethic. We also push interns into the deeper waters of strategic thinking.

What skills are required?
Interns should be comfortable with Adobe programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.

Who should apply?
Most Daake interns are typically entering their senior year of college, however, there have been exceptions in the past. We look for candidates who can display exceptional skill and high-quality work.
We have a team-oriented culture and want students who play well with others and also self-direct.

How long does an internship last?
Most of our internships last two months, beginning June 1st and running through the end of the summer when the school year starts. That being said, we’re not opposed to working with your schedule to make sure you get the most out of your time here.
